APPROXIMATE SIZE:  7 X 10 inches
ESTIMATED AGE: 150 years old
CONDITION:  good
PRE-AUCTION PRICE:  $ 650 dollars
SHIPPING:  $ 34 dollars
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:  This is a fairly rare image of San Jose de Arimatea and Nicodemo to whom permission was given to remove Jesus from the cross.  One holds the pitcher containing oil to anoint the body.   On the ground is a hammer and large nails, and partly obscured by rust  in the lower right are nail-pulling pliers.  Those items along with the ladder symbolize the task at hand.

TITLE:  Retablo San Antonio de Padua
MATERIAL:  oil on tin
APPROXIMATE SIZE:  10 X13 1/4 inches
ESTIMATED AGE: 110 years old
CONDITION:  good -- with scattered small imperfections as shown in the enlargement.  There are scratch marks right above and to the left of the cherub's head (not to be confused with his wings).  There are scratches in the clouds located in the top left corner.  There are some specks of fallen paint on the saint's left hand.
PRE-AUCTION PRICE:  $ 790 dollars
SHIPPING:  $ 34 dollars
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:  This is not your typical San Antoio de Padua retablo.  It is of good size, appealing faces, and bright colors.  Not commonly seen is the cherub on the lower left holding the framed name of San Antonio.  Saint Anthony is commonly known as the patron saint for finding spouses for single girls.  He also is known for assisting in finding misplaced items.

TITLE:  Retablo (tabla) San Pedro and San Jose with the Christ child
MATERIAL:  oil on wood
APPROXIMATE SIZE:  8 1/4 X 10 1/2 inches
ESTIMATED AGE: 100 years old
CONDITION: good
PRE-AUCTION PRICE:  $ 500 dollars
SHIPPING:  $ 34 dollars
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:  These wooden tablas with the images of multiple saints were found mostly in the state of Queretaro.
When they are made of this wood which I believe is sabino, there is no problem with rust and they have an excellent resistance to insect damage.

TITLE:  Retablo (tabla) San Juan Bautista and the Virgen (de Candelaria I think) holding the Christ Child.
MATERIAL:  oil on wood
APPROXIMATE SIZE: 8 X 10 1/2  inches
ESTIMATED AGE: 100 years old
CONDITION: very good
PRE-AUCTION PRICE:  $ 650 dollars
SHIPPING:  $ 34 dollars
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:  This is an example of an excellently preserved painting on a tabla made of sabino wood.  At the feet of the Saint and the Virgin are two animas, these being souls in purgatory.  This type retablo was dedicated to help speed the souls out of purgatory into heaven.  This retablo was found in the state of Queretaro.

TITLE:  Retablo (tabla) La Purísima Concepción  y San Nicolás Tolentino
MATERIAL:  oil on wood
APPROXIMATE SIZE:  7 1/2 X 11 inches
ESTIMATED AGE: 100 years
CONDITION: good -- in the enlargement of the first image you can barely detect someone's minimal attempt at restoring a small spot at the very lowest portion on the right side of the Virgen's blue robe.  Looking directly across, right above her left foot there is an atempted restoration of the bottom part of the red robe and and also the bottom part of the blue robe.  going directly across to the right, there are a couple more dime-size touch up, and the final at the right extreme bottom of San Nicolás' robe.  You have to look hard to see these with the naked eye.  Both images are labeled at the bottom.  You can see in the enlargement that some letters are missing.
PRE-AUCTION PRICE:  $ 950 dollars
SHIPPING:  $ 34 dollars
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This beautifully painted wooden retablo includes one image that is not easy to find.  That is the image of him holding a plate with two birds.  The story goes that someone served up to him a plate of well cooked quail.  They looked so pathetic to him that he performed the miracle of restoring them to life -- as cheerfully seen on the plate.  Some may realize that San Nicolás Tolentino is depicted in another theme, but this is the depiction that I like best.

TITLE:  Retablo Nuestra Señora Refugio de los Pecadores on tin
MATERIAL:  oil on tin
APPROXIMATE SIZE:  10 X 14 inches
ESTIMATED AGE: 100 years
CONDITION: good --  the enlargement will show a a steak going down the Virgin's right cheek, straight down through her body.  Chances are the stain was caused by dripping candle wax.  Also notice under her right nostril.. I am not sure if that is a stain or the artist's conception of a shadow.
PRE-AUCTION PRICE:  $ 450 dollars
SHIPPING:  $ 34 dollars
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: This is a large Our Lady, Refuge of Sinners, commonly known as Refugio.  I especially like the well rounded faces and the beautiful eyes of the subects.

TITLE:  Retablo San Ramón Nonato
MATERIAL:  oil on tin
APPROXIMATE SIZE:  9 7/8  X 12 3/4 inches
ESTIMATED AGE: 100 years
CONDITION: good
PRE-AUCTION PRICE:  $ 590 dollars
SHIPPING:  $ 34 dollars
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: I have included a close-up of San Ramón so that you might study the beautifully painted eyes and so that you might also see the depiction of a type of lock that was painted right below his lower lip. This seved to seal his lips to keep him from preaching even while he was in prison.
